BRICS IP Offices held the special session at the VI International Conference ERA IP Quorum “Creative Property: Intellectual Economy”

On April 26, 2024 the session of BRICS Intellectual Property (IP) Offices was held at the VI International Conference ERA IP Quorum “Creative Property: Intellectual Economy” in the hybrid format.

The representatives of Rospatent and IP Offices of South Africa, the UAE, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India and Iran took part in the session as speakers.

The Head of Rospatent Yury Zubov made welcome remarks: “This year, during our chairmanship in BRICS, we are focusing on how to seamlessly and harmoniously integrate our new members into IP cooperation. Today’s session is very special to us, as it is an opportunity to be introduced to the IP Systems of our countries, the first step in building our understanding of each other’s policies and practices.”

During the session the participants presented the national IP systems, in particular the Offices’ activity, their functions and structure, national legislation, key initiatives aimed at improving the Offices’ work, support of rightholders and raising public awareness, as well as international activities.

Rospatent also introduced the short overview of the IP BRICS cooperation mechanism.

In conclusion, the participants expressed their confidence that the cooperation within the expanded BRICS format would be effective and fruitful.
