The 2018 IP BRICS Informal Heads Consultation Meeting was hosted by CIPC-South Africa in Geneva on 25th September 2018.

BRICS IPOs reported the latest developments of BRICS IP offices cooperation and exchanged views on future cooperation.

The offices decided to continue training of intellectual property office staff and examiner exchange, promoting patent data exchange and patent information service cooperation and initiate proposed new projects. Heads of BRICS IPOs also discussed current topical IP issue including the proposal of PCT fee reduction for universities and public research institutions in developing countries, “IP and development” agenda, etc. It is agreed in the meeting that all offices will support CIPC-South Africa to host the 11th BRICS HIPO meeting and related activities in 2019.
